Dan Livingston and State Employee Unions Lambast Governor Rell's Budget Plan as Irresponsible

The chief negotiator for the state employee unions ripped Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell's budget Thursday, saying it is a counterproductive plan that would cut public services and compound the state's economic problems, causing the loss of 15,000 jobs.

Daniel Livingston, an attorney for the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition, said the unions were disappointed in Rell's no-tax-increase proposal, which eliminates more than 800 state positions and heads in the opposite direction of President Barack Obama's plans to boost the economy through more government spending.
